low female participation in this forum

The Underlying Premisespeaking of diversity it strikes me as peculiar that there are such a few women participating in this forum (even if all the participants signed with "neutral" nicknames such as "trimtab" or "backyfan" were women it would still be quite a small percent).
why is this so?
